JUST HAD A CALL FROM CANBERRA SEARCH AND RESCUE.


My brother Warren has activated his EPIRB in the middle of the Gulf of Carpentaria!!

He and one other crew member are sailing his 44ft Catamaran back from Mackay.


Canberra has dispatched a Dornier Aircraft from Cairns at 0851. eta 1130 local Darwin time.

Fingers crossed it’s just a de-mast and they are ok. If they have catsized it could get ugly.



Strong wind warning, high seas etc.

Update: they have made a makeshift rudder from the dinning table, making 5 knots on 1 engine towards Gove and tow boat.
