"Play it again Sam" My 14 yo boy Sam pulls in a meter barra and then within minutes nets a a meter threadfin, to great excitement all round, making the 3.30 am rise all worthwhile. Spent the day around Shady on Saturday with high hopes of a good catch after a couple of no fish returns, our own boat on land with mystery electric issues, so lent a boat by Jon R, thanks generous Jon. After targeting a reef and creek with fun fishing but nothing spectacular we headed home with a chance trawl on the way in.Usual conversation was had.
"What lure Dad?"a weary dubious Sam asks.
"Try this greeeny thing" i replied with confidence ??
"Are you sure" Sam mutters with suspicion and uncertainty in the air.
Sam if you don't use it i will " Joel throws in.
That makes Sam take notice. "Strong knot buddy" was the usual reminder
Three lines out with three different lures.
"i'm snagged" Sam wearily sighs "
"Your on Sam hold it firm" advise starts in "patience" "lines in " "stay calm" "Barra!""remember tip down" "get the net" "stand up" "be prepared to move" shared excitement breaks out.
One whopping 102cm barra netted much to the delight of Sam knocking off previous PB of 85.
"What do you think of that lure now Sam?" i smugly ask
Lines back in, and within a minute, flash and splash rod bending, same advice. This time Sam lands a 105cm threadfin on same lure.
A spectacular sunset session with another thread-fin also netted. A peaceful glide up the river to with satisfaction for all especially for Sam with 2 meter fish in 15 mins.
A good day finished off perfectly.
"Shadys my favourite spot now Dad" grins Sam

I would say it'd be hard to top that, especially at 14 years old, but It seems your lad has got it all sussed out and I dont think it'll be long before he pulls another like that! !!!

Great stuff Sam great effort for anyone to achieve, hopefully they will become more plentyfull now. Its something special when a kid gets a big fish. The smile says it all.
