Damn you jayharris,,,,,21 years I've been here. There was a saying back then that to become a true Territorian you needed to have done a number of things. One was a metre barra ( I'm still very suss when that photo is so small). Another was to have wrestled a crocodile, & then a couple of other very politically incorrect that need not go into a public forum, Now: (1) it appeeeeeeeaaaaaars Moonman may have delivered you a decent fish. (2) I know you have had to swim for your boat (right about where they feed Brutus) in the Adelaide River. I'm sure you could pervert this story enough to make it a croc wrestling narrative. As for the other things, I'd prefer not to know. So........it appears that in the short period of time that you've been here you've gone part of the way to becoming a true Territorian & have experienced some things (through no fault of your own) that I have not . So for that reason alone I say "DAMN YOU JAYHARRIS!!!! DAMN YOU ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE GOLD COAST!!!!!" PS..... I still think you boys should do a 'Tales From The Tinny' interview simply for the educational purposes (re the Adelaide River incident) for all new to tiller steer vessels. Cheers Jay

Lots of talk about big barra (including me with the 1.7 I can't confirm).
Here's a confirmed 1.50 metre one caught at the Fitzroy competition Barra Bounty in 2000 by a fellow called Ken Richardson. Ken makes Richo Lures and caught this on one of his lures. I understand he ties his lures straight onto his line. No leader or double or anything.
I've mentioned this one before but couldn't find the official results. Here they are.
All fish had to be photographed on a measure so I'm trying to locate the official photograph.

This fish was caught by a mate on my boat last Sunday on the Adelaide river, caught at the top of the tide using a gold classic with a red belly, she's about 120cm long and heavy heavy heavy...bent my net landing it. We didn't have anything to measure it with but the paddle next to it is 4 feet long (122cm). The real pisser is that this was his first Barra.....ever.
