148cm

Unsure if this has been posted previously as it was in the NT news but can't find it anywhere.

If it is 148cm then its one of the best seen around for a while.

Is that a dam fish Shaggs? Any Details?

I think Once Bitten is right about the guy holding up the 148cm. The fish would have been heavier than the fisherman perhaps?

Brother and I took his young son barra fishing and manhandled a 135cm barra into boat. Young fella started screaming and we had to ring his mum to come and get him at the ramp.

Worked out later that he was scared sh..less that fish was going to eat him as it was bigger than him. We never thought about it from his perspective.

Thanks Cuddles. Maybe Kinchant in Qld as its been fishing pretty well for big fish this last month or so?

Lots of barra around here at the moment. Fished areas away from the Fitzroy lately. Wild fish sizes up to 1m with size ranges right across the board. In the Fitzroy itself, the middle sizes from 65 - 100 are missing. Netted.

Expect that to change over the next 3 years with nets now gone.

Missed the label on the file. Lake Tinaroo.

The Aurukun fish is a genuine wild one and right next door to the net free area of Watson River.

Kurt runs Barraddict Fishing Charters down in Broome - Eco Beach and does wet season barra trips out of Derby WA. Can fish - check his facebook page out https://www.facebook.com/kurt.williamson.54.

There's a pic of a wild 147cm barra on there too and some assorted eye candy - good way to waste some time while your at work!

The biggest pics of wild barra I have seen were also from derby, caught on really big live mullet, hand line rigs, no idea of exact sizes, but ive seen a 130, a127 and 124 in the flesh, and there were heaps that looked bigger than all of those.
I have also seen a pic of a 140+ taken land based from cahills crossing, must have been around 2005 at night, it looked every bit as big as the one in the pic at arakun.
