Hi there,
Some of you may have understand by know, that I kind of like fishing lures... No I am not crazy like some people are, I can control myself...
Any way, here are a few little ones that came in my possession during the last thirty days.
First two Stuckeys lures, that I got from a very generous Angry. Thanks Angry. (Stuckey lures are Australian hand made timber lures)
this one is my favourite of the two, I think because of the hooks.
And the second one is not bad either...
Then comes two lures given to me by Double Haul, and I like them a lot too, because they are Australian lures too. First is a Reidy's one of my favourite brand to collect.
and
Yes with the old logo on the back.
I am happy with this one, because, I already had one in this colour, but it was not in the same depth. (No, I am not a fishing nerd )
And then, one that I am not sure of what it is, but the more it goes the more I think that this might be an old Killalure. Already three persons told me that this might be one. If ever you know what this is, please let me know.
Is that a Killalure? Thanks Double Haul.
And last, this is just a replica, but I had been searching for so long for one of these that I am happy with a replica. Specially thinking that this one was made specially for me by Mr Rex and I am very grateful for that. Thank you Rex. Specially if you know that he first made me one and asked if I was going to use it? I replied that No, I was not going to take the risk of loosing it. So a bit later he came back to me with another one, saying that like this I would have one for the collection and one for the tackle box. Yes it is the 303. The lure that the Soldiers that were stationed up here in the Top End during WWII were making to catch some Barramundi.
The one for the collection.
And the one to use.
It might just look like a very simple thing to most of you. But I wanted one that was conform to what they used to be. So I am very happy with it.

Hi Pecheur The 303 Lure that I saw a Buffalo hunter using at Yellow waters in around 1973 had 2 very highly polished 303 shells & pretty sure they were primer end first. (Will confirm with my old man) The bottom lure is an early Killalure........Cheers

Hi Takinapunt,
Thank you for this great information. It might be a lot to ask, but is there a way to get a photo of the 303 that you saw? If no, no stress, the information that you gave me is already great!

Pech, that is definitely a Killalure. The old timber ones with the metal bibs. I had a couple of those in very good condition, that I gave to "Frenchy" from the Tacklebox NT. I will have a dig through my old lures for you, I have some old reidy's that are not made anymore. They are in pretty good condition, unfortunately not still in the box.

Hi PonyPlay, Yes I heard of them, but do more with Lure and More, they are Australian and very good on information. Maybe I should check Lurelovers, but then there is too many forums and not enough time. I still need a bit of time to go fishing you know...

Cheeers Jeffish
That is a great story Jeffish! "When you write Still use them When I can get my hands on some empty shells", is that what the guy told you at the time, or do you personally use them?
And yes I am happy to know that this might be a Killalure, as I didn't had any in timber.

Hi Pech', you'll find the .303 bomber is rigged both ways, when the primer is forward the casing sits down over the shank of the hook, the REAL secret is to brasso the case to a mirror finish, only ever saw them rigged straight onto 100lb hand line, no wire. graham
