There is a new rod rack thing at BCF on special for 89 bucks. Wooden an holds 12 rods. Has a wooden top for ya tackle bag to sit on. Also have same kind of setup as a DVD rack. Hold around 25 trays on lures in the middle. Wife got it for me and it's great. Well worth the cash. All lures are in boxes labelled by brand. Classics, bombers and Rapalla. Only softies I use are squidgy fish and then I have a full tray of those. Then a mixed tray of surface lures.

Hmmm, where do you start. just went through and culled 5 trays of lures that I no longer use and get sick of carrying around. Heres the ones I kept. I guess you could say I keep them in brand and size. Depth in "classics" doesnt worry me because you can change the bibs with a pair of pliers so keep a heap of spare bibs and swap them depending on where im fishing.
1 tray of 160 classics-mainly green or gold 1 tray of 120 classics-Green-gold-purple 1 tray of x-raps 1 tray nilsies 1 tray 3 hook bombers-gold-green-tigerlilly-fluro-pink 1 tray big 2 hook bombers and big ass B52's and 25cm nilsies 1 tray squidgie 130mm 1 tray squidgie 65mm and terror eyes, 1 tray surface lures 1 tray DOA Bait busters and vivif panther martins 1 tray Castaics or hollow belies 1 tray of prawn imitations 1 tray of RMG polterguists and assorted scorpions 1 tray of jig heads, ball sinkers, worm hooks, 1 container of Gulps plus spare packets
All that lives in two, 7 tray tackle bags and a back pack with leaders, head lamp, spare braid, knife, pliers and spare reel.
Out of all this cr.p that I take I still only use 10 lures religously. The problem is that when I dont take it all the bl..dy fish seem to bite on the lures that I left at home. If this isnt the case it sounds like a good excuse to me!

I do the same as Nomad, size and depth are the determining factor. Though I have lures that have never been used, used to go to BCF and AMart All Sports when my wife went to Spotlight. Would buy a lure each time. I now have trays and trays of them, many that have never seen the water.

Used to do it by depth and size and also application i.e. mackie lures, billfish stuff, shallow barra etc. Was taking trays out that never even got opened and eventually they all got mixed up anyway.
Now I have one large tray with a heap of terminal tackle (hooks, sinkers, swivels etc), a dozen favourite lures and some plastics that I take all the time. Tackle bag has all the other stuff - leader, wire, pliers, knife, lip grips, cutters, bug spray, stubbie holder which saves me hunting around for stuff if we take someone elses boat.
Has enough gear for a couple of days fisihing and saves lugging around heaps of sh%^. Change the lures over every now and again and havent been caught out yet.
If going on a trip targetting a particular type of fish e.g. barra in shallow water then I will take the relevant tray/s along as well.
Nothing better than snaffling your mates favourite lure though ...
