A work place injury has had me at home for the past 6 mths, so to keep myself busy i started to make my own soft plastics. On the weekend i finally got out on the water & went to meckitts for the low tide. I have 5 different patterns/colors but only needed one. First cast a very healthy 63cm barra,so they do work. The color was opaque with a glow in the dark green line across the back in the minnow shape. I'm looking forward to trying out the snapper grubs i have made over the easter weekend.

Mate how do you do that? I love fishing with the softies (but am really a hack that gets lucky on occasion!)
How much gear do you need to give it a go? I have built my own fishing rod and catching a fish on that is good, but I reckon on a home made softie would be sweet as!

Hey matty i found a place in ACT that sell the plastic in a liquid, he sells the moulds as well, you just need to heat the plastic to 340 deg add what color you want & pour it in the mould. The reason i do it is i had never caught a fish on any type of lure, been trying for 30 plus years. This seemed like a good way for me to keep trying.

I have a mate who is also on FFF who has been doing this for a while. Does it in the microwave, best thing is, when they get tacky, you just nuke them again in a mould and make a new one! Sounds like the way to go, and cheap too once you get set up.

I use U-MAKE-EM SOFT PLASTICS. But i have found that spotlight at the jape center has a small range of glitter that works ok. Have been looking to see where i can get the plastic liquid in larger amouts.
