I know the larger squidies are a lot stiffer then they use to be which mean you have to move them faster to get them going right, partulary the 130mm ones... which can be hard when fishing with the tide...

I like to add a splash of chilli & soy sauce to my SP's and a pinch of salt n pepper, slowly simmer for a further 2 minutes then serve on bed of rice with a good handful of corriander.

boiling squdgies is a prerequisite to ensure they swim proper, a lot do come out of the packet with distorted tails, boiling and then hanging them up helps straighten them.

I buy decent sps but I have it on good authority that a couple of minutes in boiling water is good enough then make sure they hang straight.
Incidentally I saw an interview with the Taylor twins when barra lived in eastern states impoundments They mentioned spending about twenty minutes on modifying sps, thinning out tail wrists, removing excess weight to get them to sink slower, boiling, extra fluting along the body etc, etc. They are the guns so hard to knock what they say.
