quick culvert flick

Post by Gibbsy »

Hi all, so with the missus at work Saturday morning decided to get a quick flick in. Decided to check out
some culverts around berry springs. Arriving at first destination just after 7am water was running clear with bait around. Had high hopes. Started flicking drop bear around for about 15 minutes with not one single hit. So decided to just dangle it right between the 2 outlets of culvert. Couple of twitches and had a solid hit. With excitement I rushed trying to get fish in and using rod to lift him in. Ended up in snapped rod. Fished measured in at 55 on the dot. Threw him back in after quickmeasure and rigged up spare rod. Dropped lure back in same spot for one half arsed hit. So decided to move on to culvert on Hopewell road. Only ended up with one little hit here before heading to rock bar at blackmore river. First cast towards rock bar ended with a small Barra that measured at 35cm . Quickly released continued to flick to lose a slightly bigger model near drain outlet. Decided to try hardys creek on the way home which was quiet except one hit from a tarpon. Culverts around that area are starting to pick up since I was last there a month ago.

Also wasn't too stressed about rod as it gives me an excuse to upgrade :)

I've tried the culverts around there three times in the last two weeks for not a single hit, so you've done a lot better than me. Well done mate.

Cheers guys. We're only taking small stuff. Was using 65mm squidgie drop bears. And they went off the bite around 10ish .

Hi there,

That is a good trip.
:applause:

Every year I tell myself that I should try the culvert, but I never know where to go...
:bonk:

Have a good day,
Pecheur
