hi all, sorry for the long absence, long and short im back in Darwin after nearly 4 year absence need to buy a boat to replace the one i had and sold when i moved around but thats another story. Looking at doing some land based fishing and i cant decide weather to hit mandorah wharf or try out elizabeth river (i got told its all flash out there nowadays) havent seen many threads on landbased so i thought id start one and ask the question where and what (woops thats 2 questions kinda) really got no idea on where to go this time of the year and no doubt things have change, want to target anything as long as i get that adrenaline rush i miss from top end fishing as im yet to wet a line since being back. any advice would be much apreciated
Il drive within couple hours if i have to just need to wet a line

Hi there got-none,
For what type of fishing are you looking for? Lure or bait?
I fish mostly, (99% of the times) with lures. I love East-point, because it is very close to the city, and often produce some nice fish.
But I am not expert, and many people here catch a lot more fish than I do at many other point. One of my good mates got two Barra land based from Chanel Island just this week, on a gold bomber. But I have never fished the place, so can't tell you where exactly.

Hi there i went too the culvert out at Sth Aligator yesterday and caught 3 barra 2 smaller ones but the last one was a legal barra so not bad fun from the side of the rd,but that is 2 hrs drive depending on fast you drive i suppose though, and don`t really know what it would be like in the middle of the day.Smarty

hi there fraze dont know whether your talking about the river or the culvert i only went too the culvert there, seemed dirty to me but it was also one my first times trying this culvert style of fishing, there was also a few fish boofing under the culvert, and it was flowing at i think a medium pace hope this helps, like i said was my first time there so don't really no much about the ins an outs of culvert fishing but if i can get 3 fish mustve been doing something right also was a bit of bait around there too thinking of going back this afternoon.also seemed the later it got the more activity

HODGY, it was off the straight wall. you can fish from the rocks if you are defence, if not you can still access both of them, though i believe you cannot anchor up near them, though i see poeple do it alot, i think its a big no no to anchor up inside the navy harbour and the curved rockwall but trolling works well and drift while throwing out gulps and slices etc, ive found about one a month trevally really school up at vairous times and when they do the fishing is really hot, but you can also get alot of queenies, other catches more for the landbase there is pretty much everything, rock cod, snapper, emps, bream, coral trout, and have seen jewies and barra landed there also, search larrakeyah and there are quite a few posts about that place

Me and Hodge went for a fish there on sunday around lunchtime. Didn't catch a whole lot, just a Trevally and a couple of tuskys of which we only kept 1 and a severe sunburn, but there was no shortage of bites and im definantly keen to go back and give it another gander.
Jamie, if your ever keen for a fish some time give us a buzz, I'ts jacko whos buying that beige troopy, I'm always keen for a fish.
