Well just want to put it out their because im a little peved off.
This morning i went down to rapid to put in a few land based pots in the hope of a few crabs throw em in and go home to wait a couple hours...
I was driving out of the drive way, and the german shepherd comes bounding down the drive way wanting to come, i thought nah ill take you for a walk later, but he normally comes out with me land based. I get down to rapid to find some foreign guy walking up with one of my traps, one big buck in it and i pull him up and say mate thats mine, he starts having a go at me straight away i am 100 % sure its mine as its got 1 chicken leg in it from kfc with one of the misses stockings. he gets really agressive and starts having a go back so i stand down and walk down to the river, at this stage i was wishing i brought the mut as if he had had a go the dog would have intervined and he would have handed over the trap i get down to the waters edge all my traps are gone all 3 and coming down the mangroves is another foreign guy with both my traps (full powertail frame and barra head) and 2 good size crabs... im pretty jacked off at this stage the pots are brand new and i ask if their his, he tells me he got them at supermarket coles and i tell him hes full of sh*t... hes got a knife and once again i stand down, i go home in discust and they take my pots... i return later with the dog to put in 2 more and notice that old mates driving out and has left traps in... i thought about pulling them out and taking them... but decided i wouldnt stoop that low...
what is the world coming to? us landies have it hard enough...
none the less i have come up with a way to hide your pots for all the land based lads, when you go next time take some light 10pd mono, tie it to the main line of your pot and put a sinker or weight were the join is when you throw the pot off the land the main line sinks to the bottom with the sinker and stays loow so it cant be seen, then you tie the light line onto the bottom of a tree. you would never see it if you wernt looking however dont throw your pot to deep as you wont be able to get the pot back in by pulling the light line... the idea is that when you pull the light line you get pull up and get to the slack main line and pull in your pot....

Don't you have to have your name and phone number on them, legally? So hiding them is technically illegal? Stealing them is illegal too lol, and it REALLY sux.

Blowski, that f..cken sux mate,
If some pulls a knife on me I would have dial 000 as soon as I got to the car. I'm sure the police would have thrown the book at the pr..ks. I recall it was a mantory sentence of 6 months for this kind of sh.t.

your right you have to have your name on them, but i can tell you this cr.p happens by following the rules... i wont be any more, 100 pound white mono handline as ropes from now on...
its pretty expensive when your pots keep getting knocked off. especially if your working hard for em...
i mean if old mate had said ohhh sorry mate and handed em over i wouldnt have cared... imagine how many people this has happend to before me? geez if your gonna pull someones pots take the crabs but ffs leave me pots behind!
balou he didnt pull a knife on me just to clarify but he was aggressive and had a farking big diving knife and all i had were my bordies, chinese safety boots and singlet i was a lil outnumbered

Yeah, I expect my pots to get checked for me, however getting them knocked off is going a bit far. Sad world hey.
I remember once seeing about a dozen brand new yabbie pots in the howard in a really obvious location (string up the bank and all)....I felt so sorry for the owner I left a note saying please hide your pots better as they WILL be knocked off!

I would have just taken them back when they left. You wouldnt have been stooping as low as them.. they were stealing your pots, you would have just been collecting your pots. I can understand how you would have felt intimidated, its not right. Theives are scum of the earth, worse than politicians!

Buy yourself a short cattle prod and carry it (for stunning crabs only LOL) Too many clowns playing the intimidation card these days up here They are you property, you should have just taken them back into your possesion Buy some little foil garden tags ,scratch your initials into them or your license number and wire them to your pots

Geez, that's pretty bad. But sadly quite a few times I have had to fore go traveling to a good fishing spot after putting my pots in just so I can keep an eye on someone sniffing around them.
