Hey everyone, was out for a bit of a fish at channel island sunday and had some livies out for the run in tide in the late arvy, found the baits being eatin by sea lice.Whats the go with these critters they were swarming all over my now dead baits.Anyone know if its a tidal thing or this time of year when they appear.Noticed them last weekend with squid baits as well off channel island bridge.

Yeah, those bl..dy things are nasty if they bite you. You get a few crawling out of the od big Jewies nostrills over the Apsley Strait, probably other fish and other places to.

I remember them in plague proportions in Adelaide during the eighties as well. Horrible things.

Out at the Timor Box all the fish come off the bottom at night because of the sea lice. Often traps left over night would come up with fish that were just skin and bone-totally eaten alive!

Stinking bait fishermen.... LMFAO.....
Just soak the bait in Diesel... usually works for me..... or just don't use bait... that will solve the issue....

They aren't lice they are a parasite, we got them in the harbor a few months back an jumped on the iPhone for a bit of google action an found out they actually eat the fishes tongue an live in it's mouth in place of it's tongue eating the scraps that are left from when the fish feeds. Horrible horrible little creatures!
