I begged the Weather Gods last night to "Back Off" we had plans ! blow me away the buggers listened........
After months off Overtime for Porky and operations and pain for me, Finaly we got time to go and flick some Lures. We headed out just after Dawn and planned to go to Scotts Creek. Easy drive out there weather was great and Traffic was light. When we turned onto the dirt road it became Obvious Very Quickly that some Fools had been out there recently ! Like the dirt road it going to get boggy and roughed up from the coming weather, we all know that. BUT why Why why do some people feel the need to hoon around in their vehicles and trash it all ready ????
Anyways we pull up at the first and decide to flick around and see if we cant get something for the lunch meal. As I get my rod and am ready to head over and cast with Porky , he says "see if you notice it, or if you don't see it ?? "... I like almost freeze thinking there is a snake at my feet ! but NO he is talking about the VERY Fresh track going across the road right infront of the ute. Yes the handbag had recently ventured from one side to the other..... And then Porky finds a very sizeable Saratoga just left there on the side of the culvert to rot and attract the local wildlife..... We didn't do anygood there so moved on down to the crossing. Straight up the rats were on the bite and plenty of the them. I say if they hang around there will be some great fish next year In the current they were great little fighters so it made for a really sporty couple of hours. Then one for the Beer Batter came out fighting, very nice indeed and the first legal Barra @ 57cm for us for 2011. After that Porky flicked about with a few more rats and some really dirty ones and then Nothing, all gone. I wandered around with my Nikon and got some shots here and there
A fella pulled up with 3 little kidlets I told him of the croc marks up ahead and that the kiddies should be careful, he acknowledged and then took the dogs over the crossing while the kids had a dip in the water. OMG
It was time for us to go and cook lunch

Yeah we saw those burnouts when we went there on sunday. Its one of the more picturesque spots for fishing in easy reach and its being seriously trashed. Over the years I have seen stacks of rubish, hooning, nets in the creek, shot crocs and always always always saratoga left on the bank. A local told me he had fished there for years and never put a saratoga back as they were pests. How surprising that Tristan and I didnt catch one saratoga on Sunday........ten years ago we would have got a dozen.....Scotts is resilient as its part of a larger renewable system but that system isnt infinite and my guess is that another five years and we will be driving past it cos its not worth fishing any more....

Oh yeah that croc track is cool and there are lots of crocs out there but its possible that these tracks are from a goanna (lace monitor?). I saw one out there the other day right at the crossing that was all of six foot long!!!

I go down there every year, and every year I end up picking up a poop load of other peoples rubbish, I'm getting sick of it, i don't understand why people are such lazy sloths?? In my mind I go down there, have a fish, enjoy a beer or 2 and enjoy the scenery and relax I would never dream of sitting there drinking all day and just leaving my cans, the carton and a whole bunch of food scraps, fishing line etc etc there.. next person I see down there doing the wrong thing I'm going to give them a kick in the frigging arse , had ennough. If they want to sit there and trash something they can frig right off as far as I'm concerned got absolutely no time for trash like that. And before someone say's "why don't they put a bin down there" I'll answer that for you now, BECAUSE THE LAZY SLOTHS WOULDN'T USE IT, OR HAVE THE COMMON SENSE TO NOT USE IT IF IT WERE FULL...

There were a whole lot of kids (17-18 yo's) down there yesterday afternoon, they were fishing having a few drinks as you do, but we left about half n hour after them and they had left a trail of F-ing rum can the whole way up the road the little grubs. One of them works in a fishing shop in town!!!! I'll give him a spray next time I'm in there. It's not just there either the HRRB has new rubbish piles everytime I going there. I just can't see how hard it is to just chuck your rubbish in the back of your car and put it in the bin when you get home. There was a car last night driving from culvert to culvert, spot lighting for croc's he was about 40 odd and had his family in the car, the funny thing was he didn't even care that we were there. How hard is it to shoot a croc, were's the sport in shooting something less then 20m away and is not moving??????
On a lighter note, very quiet on barra, must be because of what ever brent said
