Ok here is my first report that some might find amusing but at the time I didn't see the funny side.
I'm sure in every fisho's time there has been a trip when you have palmed your forehead and say " why did I even bother " this Saturday was mine.
I had prepared myself to go and catch something on Saturday, bought a cast net to get some livies, a new surface popper, started work extra early so I could get out and get a couple hours on the incoming, car was full of juice and bait was ready. Well what a lesson this all was, I have never used a cast net before so YouTube was my friend and a couple practice shots at home I was partly set to go, same as the popper, never tried one, so I was looking forward to having a crack.
After the drive we finally got there and I started rigging up the rods, one rod with the popper and one for bait, pretty keen on trying the popper I give it a good cast and low and behold the popper went one way and line went the other, brand new surface popper floating on the top then slowly disappeared, didn't even get the feel of it. Good bye 14 bucks. Ok not happy but can work around it.
Grabbed the bait rod hooked up a pilly and give it a good cast, what do you know, same thing happened, although the bait was a bit soft, it ripped straight off and gone, grrr, ok now I was starting to get pee'd off.
So I grab the cast net looked for the flatter sandy part and give it a good cast, only to find the a big Barney rock and rip the cr.p out of the net, that was it, I lost my cool and threw a massive tantrum, I chucked the net at the car, I through my rod at the car, I was cursing and my head was about to explode like a grenade.
So I took a seat, cracked a beer , took some deep breathes and just soaked it in a bit, I mean I was fishing, the scenery was good and I had the family, its a good day regardless right.
I grabbed the lure rod and loaded it up with another lure and had another crack, about 5-10 casts in what do you know, found a rock got snagged and broke the line trying to get it out.
That was it, I was done. Time to go home and call it a day.
On the way home I passed a river that I caught my first barra in so I thought I'd give it a crack, I've always tried on the same side so I thought I would have a go on the other side, got down there, had a few casts then what do you know, line got tangled in a hanging branch, as I'm trying to get it out I see The water start rippling and it is coming my way, I was standing in a shallow creek crossing and still fairly croc conscious that was it, I cut my line and b- lined it out of there, I didn't know if it was a croc or not but I wasn't taking any chances. So jump in the car and said to my partner that I was gonna have a crack on the other side, drove over, put another lure on, walked down, 2 casts later it started belting down with rain. That was it, last straw, I went home.
There was no happy ending to this story, there was no moral of the story, Saturday was just a horrible day, I caught nothing, lost a whole heap of stuff, now have to get the reel serviced cos I piffed the rod In a tantrum. What a nightmare.
But hey that's fishing I guess. Ya win some ya lose some.
One lesson learnt is throwing tantrums will cost money.

If I was watching me throw a tantrum I would have thought, look at this feral twit, ha ha ha, funny to look back on, but not funny at the time. It was just one of those days.

don't worry, one day you'll be sittin near the barbie with a beer, laughing your head off about the day you had, and there will be plenty of good days you can talk about too, as long as you don't give up!!!! Just keep going fishing!!
I can relate to that exactly, and on more than one occasion!! and get reminded of them regularly

If your going to get good at fishing your going to have to put up with worse than that....
in ascending order ...
1)Lost a few cast nets here and there 2)Rod and reels overboard 2.1)Mates launching boat whilst still on ramp... 3.1)hitting logs on daly half way down 3)Breaking down in a shoal bay at night 4)Blowing wheel bearing on the side of the road (2x) 4.1) Car catching fire on way home 5)Breaking down at shady at night 6)Boat cracking on way back from shoal bay and filling with water, sunk at ramp 7)Motor catching fire on adelaide Being run over by a charter boat and boat written off.
But hey thats about it....

Jesus Christ Brent, I'm surprised your even still alive after going through all of that mate.
I been fishing for a while now, that's the second time I've ever had a dummy spit like that. I don't care that I wasn't catching anything, but at least give me a fighting bl..dy chance.

My boat was written off, the charter was repaired.
The funniest thing i have ever seen on the boat was my mate gazza who was fishing with me at no fish creek in the pitch black, he asked for the mozzie repellant and i threw him a can. He sprayed his legs and arms, neck and face then he swore and exclaimed ' The bl..dy thing squirted straight in my ear like a jet!' I said "what can have you got" and turned on my headlight to see him holding a can of wd40.
It took me nearly 10 minutes before i could stop laughing!!!
