Cold weather may be your big drama at the moment. In my opinion, land-based is as well. Probably start at the Buffalo creek ramp and work your way from there. If you have 4wd Howard River rockbar would be a more serious option. Do a search on it to find location. You will need Bushmans wherever you go.

Probably start a massive debate on this one. When I first got here a black, yellow and red Nilsmaster was all the rage. Heaps has changed since then. Nothing wrong with a live bait in my books, especially when starting out. Anything can happen & usually does.

Land based is ok at the moment if you aim for the shallow water where it is warmer Had heaps of success on Gillard DOA's (red head ) you can work them at a lot of varied speeds ,you can even add a bit of heavy mono to make them weedless Across the top,mid water or bounce them along the bottom they are a versatile lure that's cheap and catch Barra

I find Soft plastics are the go for LB fish as there no stinking trebles to catch on anything. Spots to try buffalo creek, rapid creek, channel island, Howard river, Marraki crossing , shady camp barra. But as other said its a bit cold.
