Well people, I've been on the phone to the organisers of the Variety Kids Chrissie Party, and here's the plan..The party is on 10th DEC, at the Convention Centre, from 10am to 1.30pm. Variety will organise a table and a couple of chairs in the "toy" room for us...The 'littlies' go through first, along with sick and disabled children. The age bracket 7-up go through from 12.00 on till the finish. This is the age at which this effort is primarily aimed, and these kids will be pointed in our direction. Some of us don't have a boat, but can put up a kid size fishin' outfit. In the interests of safety,and as a real surprise, the plan is to give the kids who go on the boats a brand new outfit of their own, to go fishin' with,and take home. The method in me madness is thus: If we have the outfits there at the party every kid there is going to want one 'cause its FREE..If we hold them back until the kiddie is actually on the boat..we get the kids who are really interested. The safety aspect can't be ignored..Sharp hooks,waving fishing rods..in a hall full of little tackers..recipe for disaster. I realise this is a BIIIIG ask fellas but I wouldn't have asked if I didn't think it worthwhile..Last year there were 425 kid in the 7 and up age group alone. The scope of this whole thing is MIND BOGGLING..If we can make dent, albeit, a small one its worth every cent. For those guys offering the boats and their time..Take the camera..I'm going to put it to Matt to see if he can/will devote a couple of pages in the mag, photo's of happy little faces, and no doubt some big ones too. What we need is people with an orange/ochre card just in case it's required, it will be at the party, as to the boat side, it's no more than taking a mates kids for a fish. I'll check it out nonetheless. I'm also going to approach Craig and the guys at Tackle World, BCF, G & T, about getting the fishing outfits at the right price,Might be able to do a bulk deal. I'm booked in at Mandorah with a heap of mates that weekend Graham, so it stuffs me up in terms of a run in the boat. Regardless, put me down for two outfits as well.

OK as said before put me down for two outfits and the boating/fishing will also try to get some mates with ochre cards and their own boats to join in, but as you have found olefart some people seem to have very deep pockets with only very short arms when it comes to helping out in any form. I know you guys (my mates) read these comments so get off your ar##es and join in!

Schub's Youre a legend Mate : , I've already purchsed 15 full starter outfits..Rod/Reel/250pc tackle box..for those kids who want to go out on the boats. I seriously don't expect the people putting up their boat/time to pay for the outfits as well. There are enough of us "boatless" to offset that, we've set the "chip in" at $50 with Mrs Olfart and myself picking up the slack..(Seeing I put everyone under the pump). Being the stubborn old bastard I am, I talked it over with "Th' Minister for Finance", and we decided to just go ahead and get the outfits regardless. The happiness of kids will never have a dollar value with us, and irrespective of the outcome, I'm content in the knowledge that come Chrissie, there wil be 15 VERY happy little kids who normally wouldn't have been. For the people who have already stuck their hand up, and want to chip in other than the boat side my Ph is 0439078594.
