I had a wedding/holiday at Lord Howe Island last year and I have never published the fishing pics I took while I was there, so here's a few.
This sequence is from a small bay where they feed the fish each afternoon - there were 20kg kingies, big drummer, mullet and a duck milling around for the bread. Then a local pro fisho (I assume) threw in some fish bits and it went crazy.
Every now and again one of the mullet would get chomped, but the mullet seemed more interested in getting bread than being worried about the kingies.

Have been to Lord howe meself. Great fishing and the diving was parrallel to no other dive i've ever done. Visability to about 20 meters. In fact one dive at 30 meters i could see the bottom from the boat. Heaps of fish and lobsters even stumbled upon the gallapogus sharks. Only complaint about the Howe is the price of food. Definitley not for the regular jo blow and i'm not into 'neuvo cuisine'. Resorted to catching fish off the beach and cooking on the barbie. Unfortunately not good ethics to catch crayfish with scuba tanks they told me and couldn't afford to buy them. Event the chinese tucker was three times the mainland price. Had a good climb up the mountain catching birbs with hands. It was crazy calling out and having them fall through the trees. Would love to go back again one day but I'm afraid it would now be out of my price range.

Took the missus to Lord Howe in 2003 for 10 days of R&R. Blew an absolute gale the entire time we were there!! None of the charter boats were running. Very frustrating indeed . Mind you . . . . that always seems to happen when I go on a fishing holiday.
Got stuck into the land based options though. Couldn't believe the size of the red beaked garfish Some of the big ones were up over 50cm.
Was talking to the bloke who feeds the fish every arvo at Ned's Beach. He reckons there's a couple of genuine 100 pounders in amongst the kingies.
Truly an awesome place! Would go back in a heartbeat.
