Congrats on your barramundi! Who would have thought you can catch em in the USA. They will be a lot of fun when they get a bit bigger. Keep us posted on progress as they grow.

Blacksnake... that is a great first barra mate. I know people here in the NT who still have not got a fish that good. As Matt said they are great fun when they gert a bit bigger.

I'm the old guy (red face) in these photos. The little guy(10 years old) with the fish is my grandson (and #1 fishing buddy)
Also took my neighbor, his daughter and his brother in law.
My grandson kicked our butts....he caught 90+ barra between 2 and 4 kg
My buddies daughter (9 years old) caught a few short of 50 and each of the 3 guys (me included) caught about 75 each for a total of over 360 fish . All caught on spooks, lipped minnow lures, crank baits, Berkely gulp minnow jigs, storm swim baits and gold spoons. (think thats the complete lure list)...the rapala perch colors worked very well.
Big fish was 4.5kg caught on a devil horse prop bait (yellow/black stripes)
Can't wait until next year. The owner says the fish should be in the 10kg range by then.
The fight is pretty close to peacocks and a little more than snook I think. My neighbors were totally blown away. They still have smiles on their faces that just won't go away.
