In the days before braid, I fished mainly schnieder, untill imdiscovered Ande pink.
If you can find Ande pink or green(both the same) its great, just as tuff as schnider, ties great knots and stays shiny longer. Hawk is the same line, just packaged for another supplier.
While we are reminicising about mono, others ive used are tortue, stretchapus (platypus), trilene, platil, fisherman brand, the ones I didnt rate were platypus pretest, tortue, trilene.
Trilene was to thin for LBG, and couldnt hack it in rough country, tortue lost its shine very quickly but was as tuff as wire! And platypus was just to stretchy for me.
Schnider was good, but only came in 500m spools where I lived, Ande came in 1000m and ticked all the boxes, same with Hawk.
Best Mono?
