Heading to Banyan Farm Friday......Any tips?? : Going Fishing?

Hi All,

Gonna try tha cold weather camping at the Banyan Farm for a day or 2. :wink:

Will have tha boat in so have packed some Beanies for the morning run.

How is the river level with regards to Snags etc..?

Last year i went and the run near to Wooliana on the right thru the timber snags was pretty hairy and Browns creek was low as

Caught a few at the S Bends (Biggest 75cm) and some rats upstream of banyan as well

Be careful of the sand bars near wooliana and tommys cks and of course browns
snags and rockbars are low as well
fog can cause real problems

Next time i do it late in the year, ill launch from the public ramp. .

Haven't been down but reckon you would do alright at night at change of tide on the rockbars with rubbers.

Yep, stayed at Banyan last week for a few days, had to work hard for fish but scored a nice 70 and a couple of more legals. Those snags and sandbar upstream from Wooliana are still there and were a pain on the neaps, but probably easier navigating with a higher tide. Think 'll be using the public ramp next trip. Have a blast!

cani suggest driving your car to the public boat ramp and launching from there.. Saves fighting all the snags and you'll save a bucketload of fuel and time. take a jumper as you'll need it in the morning.

Heard of two meterys being caught down past Elizebeth last week, loads of bait in the middle of the river apparantly - you might do well

Hi....I was at the Banyan Farm last neaps & the run thru Wooliana sandbar was the best in years, from upstream go R behind the first snag pile then L around the middle pile & then R near the bank behind the last pile.Have a look first!! Browns was always hi enough to run across the sand bar but there is a new scary snag just below the end of the sand as you start the corner!. Best fishing for legal size was well down towards Alligator Head, Paddock & Tackle box. Middle section of the river we never got anything but rats. Troll deep divers or work weedless soft plastics slowly across the bottom on the outgoing & troll the middle on the incoming...Good Luck
