My wife would buy one if we had the spare coin, then it would gather dust in the pantry with every other blaady kitchen gadget - bread maker, popcorn maker, juicer, blender, the $250 coffee machine, mix master, rice cooker, 2 spare kettles and the food processor. The sandwich maker sits in the pantry, but it actually gets used sometimes.......

Come on you blokes. everyone needs good coffee.

It always amazes me how the public service can find the $ for stuff like this and not for the essentials

Gotta go now, coffee time

my girlfriend works for the bureau of statistics here, they have to take their own tea and coffee in as there's no coin in the budget for extras....she's fairly impressed with this story

when i worked in the PS, it was the norm for people to walk out of the building, go to their favorite coffee shop, stand in line and return with a drink
it was a minimum of 1/2 hr away from work.
everytime the smokers went out for a puff, the coffee mob would also go outside.
can you imagine the loss of productivity while soooo many people were out?
I used to bring my own plunger and i couldnt taste the difference

Yep, when I was in the Health Department, Ducks Nuts was kept busy with DoH staff over there getting coffees. So much wasted time - maybe we should put a $15K coffee machine in each department??

(for those about to explode with indignation, the bit about a coffee machine in each department was a joke)

You're lucky it's not the Dept of Immigration.............not only do you have to buy your own coffee, but if you need to go on a "non compulsory" work related outing you gotta pay your own way for that too. While all along these "illegal clients" get the red carpet treatment!

Good to hear that not all PS is run that way, people are entitled to a good workplace, but $15k coffee machines? Yeesh.

A plunger is supposed to be one of the best ways to make coffee anyway ...

I work for the PS, if you want decent coffee you buy it. Obviously not so in the big smoke.

Take it to work in a thermos.
