Corroboree Billabong
Thinking about heading up to Corroboree for a few nights on a house about mid may, any info on current conditions an wether it would be worth while would be appreciated I live down near daly waters so it's a bit of a stretch just to go check it out myself. Thanks

From the pix I've seen, looks like the weeds have had a fair clean out, and that is a good thing.

Always worth the trip; special place!
Fished it a few times in May last year with decent results but suspect it could be orders of magnitude better this year.

Re: Corroboree Billabong
We were there on the house boats last weekend. Special place indeed.
As mentioned, little weed, plenty of water and big wide stretches of river. No run off that we saw.
Plenty of bait fish and tarpon to keep you interested but everyone struggling to hook onto Barra. Reports from the house boat operator that people were finding schools of Barra but couldn't get a hit no matter what was thrown at them. Met only one boat that got a fish.
Take a thermacell and make sure you are anchored up and blinds down by sunset. Bug life is insane!

Just curious if there's any landbased fishing spots there? Cheers

The mozzies were fierce today, even after the sun came up.

Not many, only a few on the Hardies trail, at the ramp (maybe the old ramp too) and at the rock hole. The biggest problem is that it is big croc country, and anywhere you can get close enough to cast will most likely have you in a vulnerable position.bucky007 wrote:Just curious if there's any landbased fishing spots there? Don't fish from the new or old ramps at Hardies, you'll get eaten.

Re: Corroboree Billabong
I saw a retired couple sitting in foldout chairs next to Hardies ramp years ago when the big croc lived right there. They had a van and were fishing right on the edge. I told them they were too close and it was dangerous and there was a big croc probably right in front of them and was told "we'll be right mate".Don't fish from the new or old ramps at Hardies, you'll get eaten.
