Does anyone have links or tips on how to understand contour lines. I have a chart ploter and would like to understand fully what all the numbers are all about. I do know the basics like drying depths. I done some research on this topic and understand the basic principles of elevation but I'm struggling to put it all together with it come to reading the fish finder maps.
I trying to use my maps to find reefs, holes and drop off in the blue water. At the moment I have a handful of marks and if they don't produce on the day I go home fishless.
I have a garmin and they use 4 distinct colours. Green for area that dries, the dark blue (shallow) light blue (mid water) and white(deep). I've been experimenting fishing the area where dark blue contours meets light blue around the 6 mile bouy area but this dosen't always work.
