G'day Nomad.
U're a stirrer!!!
Why aren't u up the Palmerston water tower lugging those heavy batteries so 2Rods can get the bl..dy repeater going? That'd keep u occupied for a while!!
Everybody knows that Cook had a wooden propeller so it wouldn't pull his compass.
Cook was sent to discover and claim the great southland for Britain. The cover used was to undertake special astrological observations from the southern hemisphere.
Have a think about the maritime chart vs the topographical map issue.
And have a look at the AMG option in yr gps . Know how to switch to it if u have to.
Speaking about Cook and the Pons, I have to go and stir the "Territorian Way" debate a bit.

Gday I did throw my hat into the ring as a helper a while ago but ... then again, I'd be flat out climbing the tower let alone with batteries in tow

Good pickup on my dodge spelling, since I have started studying medicine I just write really messy so that no one can see that my big words are spelt wrong.
I did a bit of navigation training when I went to see as a medic in the navy, it was very interesting. All of the the new officers must learn how to navigate without electronics and I was trying to learn off of them.
Will have to read up on it all again......if you dont use it you lose it with this sort of thing.

Didn't know u were a pusser Brent. So was I. Systems Artificer Electroniics and Comms.
In the mid 80s/90s I had a 7-10 metre charter boat ticket good for 50 n m out of any port in Qld. When the USL code kicked in that 7-10 metre ticket translated across to a master 3 (up to 50 metres as I recall). That allowed me to teach navigation at the marine college to prospective 5s and 4s. Also taught them radio comms including hf. Did it part time at night.
None of its rocket science. Your medical studies would leave that stuff for dead.
