I havent heard it called flick teasing before but I think they are refering to the use of flick baits or jerk baits. Its just a fish shaped soft plastic that doesnt have an inbuilt action. You twitch it rather than swim it. I think its a somewhat revolutionary concept as nearly all lures are made to behave like a healthy fish to attract a strike. Fllick baits on the other hand seem to emulate the action of a fish in trouble......this immediately gets the attention of predators.

Flick teasing is simular to switch baiting for billfish. You use a lure without a hook to cast deep into the structure and get the fish to follow it out into clearer water so that you can cast lures with hooks in and not get snagged up. It gets the fish in open water and is supposed to stir them up and make them hit harder hence my refereence to billfish (getting the fish fired up). Its pretty simple and does work when the fish are deep in the timber and hard to get to. Just need 2 rods rigged. One with hooks and the other without.

Works with trolling too apparently, 2 people with lines out the back and 1 person up front casting their bum off. The cast lure draws the fish out to the edges and then if all goes to plan, it sees the 2 lures getting trolled and strike.
I read that a team in the reel womens classic comp were doing it, whenever the person casting stopped, their strike rate dropped significantly, could be coincidence but it does have some sense to it.

Finally something I'm an expert on!!! (Virtue of the fact I could only dream of catching serious fish when in Darwin so I bought magazines to feed the dreams...)
There was an excellent article on this very topic in Fishing magazine...a magazine a mag Issue 32 - written by the victorious skipper Jo-Moyle Reiter in relation to SWB competition at Corroboree last year...
It specifically referred to a mixture of the comments above, but essentially one person standing on bow of boat on the troll, flick weedless of barbless lure (either HB or SP) deep into structure to draw fish out and then have the lures trolling behind with increased chance of a hit...their argument was that it draws fish out / 'switches them on' for hitting the lures on the troll...allegedly won them the competition on the 2nd hard days fishing.
If anyone is desperate I'm sure I can scan the article and email out to a few ppl...

Yep, it works, Seano and Cuddlescooper hit it on the head. Jo mentioned myself in the article as after chatting to Morgs Hartney during the Corroborree park Challenge we put it to the test with a fizzer being trolled out the back then switch baiting as such to lures like bombers or xraps. It bassically brings the fish out from hiding. Also usied scum frogs of the front with someone casting and threw a soft plastic in the mix when fish took interest in the frog. It's good fun, very good fun
