I noticed last weekend that there was a lot of coral spawn about at Sth Gutter and heard the bottom bashing mob all over didnt do so well is it related a lot of people seem to reckon it is ,lets face it as fisherpeople we need all the excuses we can get.

spawn usally takes place a few days after the full moon in november or december depending on the temp but always after the moon.

could be wrong but thats was the rule of thumb back in QLD. didnt think we suffered from much coral spawning up here but again could be wrong. anyone else no more about it??? :-?

so no Max its no excuse, sorry :fu:

Your spot on Harmsey (as usual :wink:

) - we get quite a number of algal blooms offshore around this time of year when the air temp/water temp is swinging.

Commonly mistaken (including myself for many years) as coral spawning.

Yours was probably a greenish brown Max - a coral spawn is a bright pink color & only occurs once a year as Harmsey says.

could have been the earth quake max in the banda sea. thats a good excuse... the one last year shut the jews and golds down for a few days... :drinking1:
