Frillneck, araphat style hat, you can velcro front right up to keep out sun and bugs or leave it open for drink access. Mine stays on even at full speed (55-60kph).

It depends if you want to keep the sun off your entire head or just ¼ of your face. Baseball caps are useless. Any wide brimmed hat works well.
I've been thru about 6 straw hats but they die very quickly when wet. The latest I've found is a canvas akubra type/ The frillnecks are good till you spit Ive never been able to get the beaver style ones to fit properly

I had a Frillneck for 4 years, excellent hat. As stated previously, they stay on really well and top protection. I have now changed to a cap and "Buff" neck/face cover - so far I am really happy with it. A bit cooler than the Frillneck but the same level of protection and in some areas, better protection.
Though, I had better not go too near to any visiting Navy ships in the harbour as I think I may get shot - you look like a bl..dy terrorist in the thing.

i don't mind these mask jobbies with a trucker cap(mesh back baseball cap), plenty of air flow - better protection than the straw ones and you dont feel like you've got a toilet seat on your head.......
Called a Buff, very light stretches over your head, if you feel its too hot I sometimes wear it on the lower half of my face, so i dont get burnt on the neck .
If its too hot dip er in the water, it'll hold enough to cool you off without soaking you.
Get em form BCF, called a "Buff" about $15 or so.
Recommended, if you want a straw hat, Bunnings have em for about $9 I think pretty good ones ...once theyve been stood on n fallen on a couple of times throw it away n get another.
Basball caps....they're for Yanks ...useless unless your into the fashion stakes.....then maybe you should be wearing your Cap sideways & ya pants back wards....Dude !

Agree, I wear a cap with a Buff. cant get burnt if the sun cant get to your skin. Also stops the cap blowing off. Straw hat next if dont feel like wearing buff CCC
