Was keen as to get out there after a few planned trips had fallen thru for different reasons.Picked the decky up at 4am from Palmo.Helding him load his gear I notice a can in his stubble holder on the footpath starting earlier with a roadie are ya.Its past midday somewhere he replies.Fair enough cant argue with logic like that id be doing the same if I wasn't driving bummer.Anyway of we head arriving at the ramp just after 6 and the carpark is full and the sun isn't even up yet its going to be a busy day at the mouths.head down to the mouth of Sampan to join in the Congo line.Start trolling and over the next couple of hours see quite a few fish hooked and landed at one stage four boats around us are all onto fish a nice barra comes in one and a good the threadie in another the other two luck out bl..dy Powertail. Our lucks got to change pretty soon I'm thinking put its not to be.So head over to tommycut to give it a go see a couple more fish come over the side of other boats but still haven't had a touch. After an hour our so with no action going on we headed back to Sampan for one last go before heading home.I have a half hearted hit that doesn't hook up bummer.A little while later the duckies rod goes off with a real solid hit line rips off a big jump from a decent fish then its all over..Barra 1 us still 0. Half a later and same thing deckies rod goes off and it's all over before he can even grab the rod.Barra 2 us 0.So we head back to the ramp with our heads between our tails but that's fishin.
Back at the ramp we see 2 blokes throwing a cast next just down from the launch area.3 boats pull out in front of us and no one says anything to them.By time we pull out they are fishing near the barrage with livies still no one says a thing.Bugger this I say I going to have a go at these blokes. It turns out they where from the Kimberlys and had no idea about the rules so explain it to them and offered them some soft plastics if there wanted to keep fishin. They were very apologetic and packed up there gear and left.
Anyway a bad day on the water beats a good day at work and had no trailer problems like another post I read.
I will back next week a join the Congo line to try again. You got to be in it to win it
Cheers

Hard lines MM
Good on you for the report and calling the livebaiters. Seano and I were just talking about the old days fishing the barrage. 10-20 barra per night and all a good size were not uncommon. We would release nearly all of them...
I don't know if the barrages changed things or the subsequent "greening" of Shady Camp but I do know that night after night we would go there with live baiters banging everything they caught on the head. Yeah I know it still happens. And I don't judge livebaiters in general...just the ones at the barrage. Theres a difference between catching a meal and stocking the freezer for a year.

Its not a crisis unless there is blood around.
If there is blood around......well its a police matter...
