Is the wet done and dusted?

Post by scottmac »

Will we see another monsoonal burst? I'm hoping for one in the next week or so (before my next r&r   ) but I'm getting less and less confident. Maybe that cyclone will head west and drop a bit for us? Waddayareckon?

I have shouted myself a helifish trip on the 24th, so I'm fully expecting a cat 3 at least to be impacting the top end by then

I hope not but I'm not confident we will get any significant rain to make flood plains rise again. It will take easily a week (probably 2) to recover from those 2 lows sucking all the goodness East. Fingers crossed I guess

April sees a few cyclones hit the Top End, it's not over yet.

And the dragonflies get it wrong all the time.

I'm just worried it will come when I have my trips planned. But we take that gamble every year. At least I'm not flying up from down south like my brother!

If you watch the Oz Cyclone Chasers you will see the monsoon has shifted over the pacific, has been there for weeks and the MJO figures are not good for its return here. Yes over average in rain, but rivers are dropping. Work this out my bore has dropped 2 metres since peaking in early Feb. getting a storm this arvo and noticed the Sea Eagle collecting sticks for her nest.

Dundee Bores are like some old washed up Dishlicker trainers, off and gone and dried up. Oz Cyclone Chasers mentioned last night that the MJO may strengthen a little and provide us with a small monsoonal burst in April. The South Easterly mid level surge is only just below the top end. Bring on the Billy season

very sandy bores mixed with a small aquifer that is having new people tap into every week is the problem.
