I can't see how they could say it is definitely coming to Darwin while they are working on another plan. But this ad for the 'world's largest processing facility' does sound a bit bizarre. Surely a decision either way would have been announced?

same as Bayu Undan and the DLNG, you have to build the platform and develop the gas field before you can supply the gas to an onshore plant. All takes time and money,

there's propbably a shewd business game behind it.........once the power brokers are in position, ie completed any transactions prior to the annoucnement that it will go ahead here. then they can maximise their investment and at the same time leaverage the government for sweeter consessions.

Don't believe eveything you read. That NT News article was a joke - they don't understand how gas projects like this work. New Member is right - the gas has to undergo processing at the field before it's sent to Darwin. The preliminary processing removed water and condensate - a light and very valuable hydrocarbon which is in the gas. Only then is the gas sent to darwin to turn into LNG same as Conoco plant. The NT News was just trying to scare people and grab a headline on a slow news day.

Nt news called me once to talk about a dingo pack I saw in the botanical gardens, next thing I know I'm labelled a dingo alarmist and picnicing family were going to be eaten alive!!!

You would want to hang onto your hat if they do make the annoucement, when they first annouced the plan a couple of years ago we went from having 2 or 3 groups of people through open houses to 20 to 30 groups through and every thing that was on the market sold out in a couple of weeks, crazy stuff..!!!!

Hey Southy did you see the comment on the news from the Real Estate Institute , about how the economists can be so precise predicting house prices for Darwin, but failed to see the GFC coming LOL

Yeah i dont think there is any more or less doubt over it than there was 12 months ago. As the more knowledgeable guys have pointed out this is a massive multi-staged project. The bit where they build in Darwin comes after they have lined up and shot a few other ducks ... so it seems is still dependant on that as well as other variables?
I think they have been pretty responsible in not announcing a 100% go ahead of the Darwin processing plant.
Interesting southy - sounds like the speculative portion of the market (which was particularly prevalent at the time of the original announcement) has already priced Inpex go ahead - and then some - into the average house price in Darwin. I remember watching news reports of just that when it was first announced. Just how much higher can they go purely on the strength of this project going ahead? Unless you are lookign to actually purchase something to live in there is no way you would buy anything in Darwin based on what you can get for the same money in Sydney, Melbourne, etc ...

Trouble is getting good tennants!!! We even kept the rent down to try and get good ones...........back to court again tomorrow.....they ignored the previous ruling so the Magistrate should be nicely fired up!!!
We ended up selling our investment property out of pure frustration, and thanks to Mr South we were extremely happy with what we got for it!
