Yep. nice loud rattle. especilly for trolling. (classic's) dont always need your lure to sound/act/look natural. not to many guns and roses mullet getting around either.

some times. i reckon that hooks and rings rattle enough most of the time. when barra are hard to get to bite, i prefer no rattle. smaller lures....ill even use soft baits then (and I dont like useing them) i know they work, just dont like useing em.

The rattle for me isnt as important as the action, its no wobble no gobble for a reason. i believe that sometimes the fish are put off by a violent rattle, although every river is a little different.

when they first started to come out a few years back i reckon they worked well as hadn't been heard by the fish. I landed a few nice fish on the old Cotton Cordell Rattlin spot!!
But now i'm not so sure, i think they are wising up a bit, have a couple of places i still visit that i do a lot of sight casting, depending how the fish are, they won't touch a rattler, scares the poop out of em, change to an old stalwart or an old rebel and they will get smashed, sp's as well.
Depends on the fishes thinking!!
On the other hand i have been casting in the same spot with a rattler for half an hour in a billabong and got nothing, then caught 5 in 5 casts, reckon the whole school came from the other end to see what the noise was and got excited
I reckon ask the fish, if they can tell you then you'll know!!
I've changed my mind a few times and will probably keep changing depending on the day and the fish!!!
My biggest to date was caught on a non rattler!!

when trout fishing, you try to match the hatch. Some flies actually look like the bugs they represent (minus a big hook hanging out of them) but most look nothing like the bait.
Im sure that a barra doesnt look at the size, shape and colour of the lure before it attacks. Its movement and vibrations that cause the barra to strike (IMHO) - especially in dirty water.
The theory is that the vibes from a rattle make it come over to have a look
