I agree with the general consensus, not acceptable....
With an interesting spin on karma, I was thinking the other day about the fin boats and what they do, and I came up with the thought "what if their boat went down.....?!!!" Surely all that 'fresh meat' in the water would attract something to feed...... it would be good of mother nature to complete the circle of life and return the favour to these 'fishermen'!!!!!
On the other hand, this could also be my demise if I had fish in the esky on the way back one day and the unthinkable happened......

Interesting thread, I caught a big Mako years ago which we cut up for meat. It tasted Sh1t and I have no interest in killing another one.
The shark (refered to above) that was caught in KTA was a 260 kg Tiger on 6kg and is a pending world record. Does that make it ok?? Big can of worms there for gamefishing tournaments as they still award points for sharks, trevally and several other species that are not much chop to eat. Many clubs still weigh sharks although some do it away from the public. It does seem like a big waste to kill a fish for a photo and weigh in then just dump it but it happens on a regular basis.

I wouldn't mind catching a big shark but I would not keep its chompers. It would just be another thing that I would throw out later on. I do believe that if you want one, get one, let everybody else have their opinion.
