Hey,
Heading to Singapore and Japan next week. Thought it might be a place to pick up some cheap fishing gear (my mrs will be stoked!). Anyone know any good shops to hit up?
Cheers

tbh wags i went their in april for my bro's 30th and thought the same, most things might have been $20 cheaper but i found it wasnt worth it if you needed warrenty etc. cant remember what the street was called but it had about 7 shops in it and they were all the same price. good luck and hope you get a bargin but remember singa's isn't a poor dodgy spot these days.

Beach road that's the one.
Bit of a plug here but Glenn at ko Recons his reels have the shimano Internals but his externals and are bl..dy cheap and I've never heard a bad word. I've got a few of his rods n they work a bewdy too.
Have fun in singas.
Ps make sure you go up the top of marina bay sands during the day& night (big hotel with the ship on the top) bl..dy nice view but about $20au for a beer. but the view is worth it.

Found the prices in Japan very similar to here. Mostly freshwater gear where i was. Was told of a three story tackle shop on Osaka that I want to find next time I'm in Jaspan.

Hay Mate,
I was in Singapore in july this year, I printed off the list of tackle shops 2Rods put on here,
I payed a cab driver $35per hr singapore and gave him the list and he took me to all the best stores around town
The prices were around the same to us unles they had a special on something, There lures range were pretty baisic,
The best shop i went to was the one on beach rd as mentioned above,
I was hoping to find some new different gear i hadnt seen before but no such luck,
Any way it was worth a look see how ya go,
Cheers Gleno

Tell the bloke at Born 2 Fish 23 Arab Street Singapore 199722 Tel : (+65) 6295 2818, that your from Darwin and he will look after you. Well as much as they want to. They still want to make a good sale for them.
If your going through malaysia, kuala lumpur then go to http://www.kepongtackle.com/contactus.html
They are way cheaper than Singapore or japan.....I got a digital cast scorpian (SEA shimano chronach) for well under 300 bucks
