Best tackle shop in Darwin
Hey guys, so I've decided rather than bringing a lot of gear and tackle with me for my trip to Darwin this year I'm gonna buy all new gear and leave it with my old boy so he's got a good set up to go with his new tinny. So I'm after your opinion on where my best bet would be to load up.
Need somewhere with a big range, good knowledge and reasonable prices. Within half an hours drive from the city would be ideal too, any suggestions?

^craigs is by far the most expensive shop I have ever walked into.
Definitely head to Fishing & Outdoor World. They are the cheapest around town in my experience and the service and advice is second to none.
The Zerek prawn lures I buy are 8.50 there if they don't do a deal. Much cheaper when buying a full box. Craig has then listed at 11.50 and would not budge on the price. So we left and drive into town.
We sell fun had the green cherebin pots at 4 for $20 bucks.
CRAIGS were 9 bucks each Burnside he could come down to 7.50 each buying 10 or more. Although then charged 6 bucks each for the small floats and upon checking the receipt my.mate got stung for the rope also as ut was a four pack for 5 bucks and he was charged 9

Thanks guys, always best to ask the locals first I reckon. Brendan I've got a few of those zerek prawns in my kit down here but I haven't used them yet, great looking lure though. What do you target up there with those?

I drift in between NT Tackle Box in Durack, Craig's Fishing Warehouse and Tackle World in Pinelands. But got a real good price on my venom rods at Fishing and Outdoor World. Craig's will also barter price. All have great local fishing knowledge

I go through a tonne of tackle from lures, soft plastics, hooks and everything in between and would not go any where but to George , Ronald and his team at Fishing and outdoor world! Walked in there the other week and classics were on sale at $10 each ( $12 now I think) i grabbed 15 of them and some other stuff and Ron still nocked a few extra bucks off.

Fishing and Outdoor World by far, they will look after you. Haven't had a good experience at Craig's ever but have tried often.

Steveo, pretty well anything will eat a zerek, cod goldies barra jacks salmon...even a stinking old bream will gobble up the small ones...I've even got a couple of small macks on them

Re: Best tackle shop in Darwin
I personally get my value for money from Craigs. I think perhaps if your a regular there you get the bigger discounts. The boys always help me out and knock $$$ off. However I also do a lot of shopping with George and Ronnie at Fishing & Outdoor World and stand around for half an hour or so and talk fishing with them which is always a pleasant and humorous experience, no matter who you are they will always do deals.
It has always been my private conviction that any man who pits his intelligence against a fish and loses has it coming.
Give a man a fish, and he can eat for a day. But teach a man how to fish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years.
“Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime”

Pretty sure they specialise in pegboard hooks, that seems to be what they stock most of
F&OW for me. Range, price & advice 2nd to none

Re: Best tackle shop in Darwin
I replenished my big yozuri maccie lures on Friday from Craigs and got good prices. Had my relos up from nsw and they wanted to go to FOW for stuff they only carry - fishing shirts????
anyway, George was 15% more expensive than Craig RRP before the discount for the same lures.
they both give 10% and more but if the starting point is cheaper, well you know the answer....
Craigs always better to haggle with in my books. just the way i see it.
either way, much better to make the locals rich than buying interstate and ending up with noone up here
