Ok I am looking for a light barra rod for the missus...don't want to spend much more than $100,,,Any recommendations much appreciated.

Shimano Mexican fire raider good value. Around $100

Glen at KO has some nice rods around $100 as well...new for old replacement for $50 if it gets broken too
fish are skinny, the ocean is fat

Spend a bit more and get a st croix- they have some in pink too! Top class rods with a warranty that is if you break it in any way even if it's your own fault they will replace it- much cheaper in the long run

she only fishes a couple times a year so i think the stcroix is a bit over the top!

St Croix is defiently the way to go if she is going to be using it like a 80's Ugly Stick, but if it's just for the occasional fish go the Shimano Raider, can also get the Shimano Braided same rod but sold by Fishing and Outdoor World in the CBD

The brown colour Abu which were 50 from the boat show last year were good value. My mate and his kids are hard on their gear . I have seen these rods cope a sh.t load of abuse and still pull metries with snapping.

I have 3 st croix avids and love them . I'm recently bought a entry level st croix triumph series for 150 which has impress me. I use my triumph series when I fish with a mate who doesn't have rod holders and most of the time all the rods just bounce around in the bottom of the boat. :banghead: :banghead:

Shimano Barra Raider Magnum 591 around the $100 mark and light as. Handled 83cm baz from Woods with ease :mrgreen:

I'm in the same boat as ntpie, iv checked the st croix out they look great but come the big price tag, can get them rods locally? Are there any decent pink rods in the cheaper range?
