Spend a bit more and get a st croix- they have some in pink too! Top class rods with a warranty that is if you break it in any way even if it's your own fault they will replace it- much cheaper in the long run

St Croix is defiently the way to go if she is going to be using it like a 80's Ugly Stick, but if it's just for the occasional fish go the Shimano Raider, can also get the Shimano Braided same rod but sold by Fishing and Outdoor World in the CBD

The brown colour Abu which were 50 from the boat show last year were good value. My mate and his kids are hard on their gear . I have seen these rods cope a sh.t load of abuse and still pull metries with snapping.
I have 3 st croix avids and love them . I'm recently bought a entry level st croix triumph series for 150 which has impress me. I use my triumph series when I fish with a mate who doesn't have rod holders and most of the time all the rods just bounce around in the bottom of the boat.
