Need to run new wire down to my bilge (old ones looking a bit green !!).
Where & what should I be looking to source (type & gauge - it's a 2000gpa pump)??
Could I assume that the likes of BCF would stock 'correct' marine grade wire, or am I
better off with the likes of Jaycay/Supercheap??

Re: Bilge Wiring
You want marine Grade tinned core, RTM should have it, and I know BTC have it.
Thats a big pump, i guess it would draw somewhere between 10-12 amps? Do you have the model?
You could probably get away with a 20AWG wire, but I dont know how long a run you will need, so you might want to jump up to the next diameter. I think 20AWG is sold as a 3.5mm or 4mm cable, and should be right for up to 15 amps comfortably. maybe jump up to the next size to be safe, from memory that carries about 56a. I ran the next size up to my Deck Wash just to be sure, but via a relay so I wasn't running that much current up to my instrument panel.

Thanks Guys - I gotta get out more .... (didn't know RTM existed !!).
Pump is a TMC2000 (2000gpa - probably a bit of overkill??) - recommended 15amp fuse.
Another stupid question - if they're wired incorrectly (ie +'ve to -'ve ), will they run 'backwards'? - or does it not matter?

It depends on the logic - my guess would be that its very possible.

Re: Bilge Wiring
I get all my wiring from cooldrive or Rtm.
Yea it's a electric motor, reverse the polarity and it will turn the other way.
Make sure you use a proper waterproof connecters or solder the wire as standard automotive crimps do not last.
4mm wire will do just fine.

Re: Bilge Wiring
Use dual wall heat shrink on your connections, saves black rot setting in.
