Hi guys, I just put a new gold card in the hds 7 that came in the boat I just bought , it will work one week but not the next , totally weird . Any thoughts ?

Once you load the maps you never have to touch it again so sounds like might be a faulty head unit. Check for signs of corrosion maybe around SD port.

Navionics gold card works a treat. But you won't get rivers and the link someone posted before is what I get on the gold card.

Cheers Scottie5.3 that's what I was thinking, strange it only happens randomly . A bit of contact spray down the slot hurt it you think?

What about satellite overlay (like google maps) anyone figured this out in our rivers?

My Navionics Platinum + 60p XL3 is completly useless around NT rivers with & without Sat overlay, but my iPhone Navionics app is “Outstanding” & shows coverage everywhere in the NT?

The Card costs $500 vs The iPhone app $50 odd ?

Am i missing something?

Only works when its in - To prevent you loading multiple units.

Any electrical type cleaner that won't leave a residue should be fine. If its still in warranty do not touch it with anything just take it back as it will void warranty if you muck with it too much. If not try everything to get her to go again. For it to work then not work then work, it has to be the unit or SD card not being read intermittantly

Cheers Scottie . One more question if you don't mind , I'm thinking of buying a new unit, will the leads from my hds 7 gen 1 fit a gen 2 or 3 head unit ?

Yeah all the blue series plugs are the same. Its good practice though to replace with new unit just to ensure best quality wiring. If you have structure scan and buy a touch, delete the Ethernet cable and module then structure scan then goes directly into the back of a touch. Non touch will require the module and Ethernet cable still.
If you need a hand putting it in mate let me know. HDS range are my favourite due to the add ons, I run a external heading/compass sensor linked in and the sonic hub and uni dock which makes it a much nicer experience to use. If you are buying a new sounder I strongly recommend the gen 3 touch in whatever size suits as this will give you the latest software and most features...
3d scan is out now too...

lowrance are bad for the cards being intermitant in reading. The ports get a lot of corrosion in them over time. I also think the cards them self play up. I have changed my card and it reads fine again. Frustrating considering they cost $300 + a pop.

Scottie if you want google overlay mate send me your Email and I'll send the files through. Have the harbour, spa, Daly, Byron and corroboree all mapped out with overlay.
