Ive been searching through a few old posts planning some fishing trips and have seen a few where its mentioned that it was a restless night sleep for the captain as was worried boat would drift and when it did not hear the alarm go off. I know the drift alarms on my gps's are very quiet and in my pontoon boat with the slapping of the waves no chance of hearing them.
So I use a application on mobile phone and it works awesome. Does not need phone coverage to work at all. I use the Lite Free version but will just pay the money for the full version for a few extra features.
beauty of it is you can set any sound or song for the alarm sound and my phone is loud and always wakes me. I put it a foot above my head when asleep and have no stress at all.
this is a link to the android version but im sure there is prob apple versions available too

There are also apps for the iPad that do the same thing.

might have a go at this.... woke up 11KM away from my anchor point
once, the best night sleep ever without the waves slapping on the
side, but also forgot to set the drift alarm
