went for a crab on sunday with opes, mark and opes son taylor, it took us a while to get out of buff creek with the low tide and then to skirt the sand banks up the howard. we finally managed to throw the pots up king creek and had a few good crabs in about an hour. the resident share farmer (small cheeky croc) managed to get to the bait on some pots so we then had enouph water to head over to little howard. well we thought there was enough water but where rod wanted to put a pot there was a sand bar between us and the little creek, so in i go to walk and throw the pot where it had to be. alls good and then without warning down i go bl..dy sand turned to mud and STOLE my good qld cowboys thongs not real happy with that situation and im covered in mud up to me groin so i wash of and get back in the boat. we then hit a sand bar so out i get to push and the bottom goes from 2 foot to too many feet and im gasping for air as the cold water hits my balls and takes the wind out with the boys pissing emselves got all the pots out and did another 2 or 3 pulls and called it a day, ended up with 15 good crabs and we all got a nice feed. heading back to buff creek there are 2 blokes waving at us like the world is gunna end so we mossy on over to see whats up when they inform us they have run out of fuel after the usual tirade about how can ya run out of fuel we cop the its a new motor etc etc with which they were informed that different motor or not fill ya tanks before going somewhere. then the excuse became "we went further than we planned so we towed them back to the ramp and are still waiting for the carton to be dropped of at work, so if any one knows who owns the old white plate boat red abd blue strips with an old evinrude on the back being towed by a red hilux dcab with the big UNIt sticker on the back window let them know we are still thirsty . coming back in to the entrance to buff we had 3 dolphins running the bow and that was an awsome site with them coming out of the water a bit , that was a magical experience. apart from one boat that i had to ask to move to the side of the ramp to retrieve opes boat the trip was a ripper, thanks to opes and taylor for taking mark and myself out

Smithy sounds like you all had a great time as well as muddies to boot.. ..just be careful of walking through the mud..one of the guys here finished up with a flesh eating bacterial wound last year after sustaining some sort of cut while in the mud/water.
people who run out of fuel especially at Buff creek..well what can I say

I was out on Sunday crabbing in Shoal Bay, but I did not do as well as you did Smithy. I got four, two big two small. The water seemed really clear and cold (about 22 degs). Most other people i spoke to were not doing too well with the crabs.
