Headed down to my favourite landbased spot in Rapid Creek for a quick crabbing session and a fish. With not much bait around, and the water being so cold, couldn't manage to get our hands on a fish. But we did manage to take a few good sized crabs for dinner All were full , and delicious ! Definately can't complain. Im expecting more crabs in the following days with the full moon out

Hi Dreamrider; nice little haul for dinner...., do you mind me asking how long you had the pots soaking? - my 5yo is wanting to to go crabbing and 'exploring' through the mangroves at Rapid Creek, but I am loath to leave the pots in too long lest they are share-farmed or stolen! He has decided that crabbing is more fun with dad rather than fishing; at least we manage to catch a few crabs at our little spot at Wagait Beach, even if most are undersized, and haven't had the pots interfered with over there!

Trier I've had bad experiences down there leaving pots in, you will see my previous posts...
I'll share my secret with u, get white 100 or 80lb handling and tie it to our traps thrown em out and then tie the handling down low on the bank to a mangrove root or something if it's down low no1 will see it, u will have trouble picking em out ur self, I even brake off a small tree branch for a lil more camo... Two hours is fine the farkers get in and out...

Trier, I stayed there and checked the pots every 30 mins, for about 2 hours. I've left pots at my spot overnight as well and haven't had any problems with thieves (yet)

Thanks Dreamrider & Blowsk . I remember the 'issues' you had with matey a while ago Blowski!! I've got a bit of heavy handline about that will do the job - even got some of those plastic cards for writing your name and number on and tying onto the line to keep it legal; will push them into the mud though to keep them camouflaged as well!
Probably get the chance to have a try later in the week.
