Spent over night at Leeders Creek this weekend. Did a little fishing and crabbing. I've maintained my reputation as one of the worst crabbers in Darwin. Only had 6 pots out and caught 2 crabs on day 1. Other blokes I talked too near our pots got 10 and threw others back. Another got a dozen. Left the pots in over night for zit! Shifted the pot to another creek for nothing. Checking every hour and 1/2 or so.
Thought I'd get smart, I'd been setting the pots on the west side while other's on the East side. So found a side creek and set on the East side and wammo, 3 full size crabs and threw a few small ones back. It's official, you catch more crabs on the East side of the creek. Fishing was poor in Leeders all weekend.

No Scamper I hold the title of the claytons crabber. I couldnt catch a crab at 4am in mitchell street. I will persist and will not be beaten on the crab front, At least you got a few for a feed. Suprising the fishing was slow.

I reckon some loser have been helping you pull your pots mate. We were down there on Sat from low to high and got a good 24 bucks. Kept 16 of the best one cause I promise the boss I'll get him a feed. We sat near our pots unitil we reach a dozen then we left them to do some fishing.
In the first 2 hours we got 12 , then we p...ed off down the front for to have a fish. After 3 hours we managed only 1 from 10 pots. We then sat on them for another hour and got another 11.
the hightlight of the day was pulling up a 1.5m croc which had crawled inside one of the pots. It was fun getting that bastard out totally distroying the pot.
I did get big jewie but wasted 2-3 kilo of pillies and squid feeding his whole family and friends in the process.

hey mate you do know that they can get out of the pots right?? If I'm seriously trying to get a feed of crabs I will pull them every 1 - 2 hourse depending on tides.. I leave them longer on neaps and check more regularly on the bigger tides..
