Crocodile safaris

Post by Matt Flynn »

Can't believe such a simple thing is taking so long to organise ... http://www.news.com.au/national/norther ... 94ba9a8d16

If it is OK to trap them, what's the diff? A bullet is more humane because it does not involve all the trauma of being trapped and moved and then killed.

Those poor, poor crocodiles are being treated badly ... time for croc safaris to bring a humane ending for them, and a chance to earn some fat yankee stacks for NT pro guides and traditional owners.

It's bullshit. Why safaris, 'pro guides' and Aboriginal people? Croc of poop. Balloted permit system makes croc hunting fair for all. Easy enough to implement and control. Why is it even an issue?

Might work in some areas, but fishos won't want boats loaded with armed yahoos, croc permits in hand, on their rivers.

Most permit holders would do the right thing but it only takes one mob of idiots to ruin it when you are dealing with firearms matters.

Trained pro safari guides will be needed to ensure proper procedure.

just have a look at the ballot system in tassie for deer on some spots. No way
Agree with Matt. Can you imagine dodging bullets from p155ed yobbos . Bad enough that they are full of lunatic soup without putting firearms into the mix

I would expect a requirement for 0% blood alcohol if there are firearms on the boat.

Interesting proposition though, the areas where it is needed the most are also some of the most frequented locations. Some timing considerations would be needed to make "hunting reserves" operate in periods where the fishing season is effectively closed through seasonal lack of interest.

Of course the permit system would work. Why are shooters yobbos? What a croc. Hunt in same area as fishos? Of course. You can hunt in national parks in vic and state forests in most states. Shared with campers, motor bikes and hikers. Ridiculous to say we need 'safari guides'. Far. NT nanny territory

Deer hunters are in the scrub, usually with very few if any other people around. Rivers on the other hand are like highways, they are busy places at times in the NT.

Might be able to do it on closed/private/remote waters though.
