Lee Point cray : crays

i Found this monster yesterday morning during his last minutes of life on the beach whilst walking the dog.

Not a bad size, I presume they are living on the rocks off the point ?

Maybe some will move into the the new FAD :grin:

It still had the tiniest of movement left when I picked it up. I had to put his legs out for the photo though, the length of the antennas were most impressive.

Poor old cray, hope it got to say good bye to its mates :cry:

I think it would be worth a snorkel aroud the lee point rocks with a spear on a low tide if that is anything to go by. Another great indication of how special Darwin is with its amazing fisheries on its door step.

Also another reason to fight to keep it that way by not overfishing.

But the Blue mud decision may do exactly that to the NT waters........

there will nott be too many crays around the reef on the spring low, they will all be tucked away safely in the VBD FAD. :mrgreen:

Barrabeast will be lurking above there with his boiling pot on board salavating into his snorkel :wink:

does that one have a spear hole in it? could be one that got away! :grin:

yep, you can find the odd cray out that way, but they are few and far between. They must migrate in and out from deeper water.

still, it's a nice peice of 'fruit of the sea' collect some sea weed and you've got yourself a salad as well :bonk:
