Apparently was caught in Tassie.

Its sitting on a dive tank, with the one next to it being a normal legal size... :shock:

A mate of mine was there and posted these pics but he said it was caught in NZ.

Heres another one of his crays, this one's not as big but still a thumper from Robe in SA along with a big painted one from somewhere.

He works in Aquaculture research, looks like the job has a few perks!

Stonkin' crays! A mate of mine used to dive for crays at Thursday Island and he said a diver caught one that was huge, far bigger than the average.

I would put on a buffet night with one of those pictured, but do they still taste good at that size? :cheers:

Believe it guys! My Bro in Law is a cray fisherman down south east sa and they DO get that big! I dont get out too much when down there damn swell gets me every time.

My cousin a pro crayer on king island says biggest hes got was a tad over 7kg but much bigger than that & they cant get in a pot

i grew up on king island. lived there for 17 years, folks are still down that way. big crays down there, thats for sure. the pots arent really accommodating to the bigger fellas, i think a bit of underwater ufc is normally in order.

and from what i've eaten, the larger ones are still pretty good on the chew matt.
personally i wouldn't be able to afford one, if the fisherman ever let it go to market

, especially after paying over $70.00 for a just legal specimen on the island this christmas just gone.
very, very strict regulations down there too, which is good.

lot of meat in the tails, even in the smaller versions. would be a nice arvo with one of the larger ones and a few 6 packs

Hate crayfish....Buggers don't last long enough. :wink:

Need a second job to afford the miserable 'kakkas' on offer here.

Half a dozen to get a decent feed, and then they are crappy frozen shyte with the consistency of boiled SP's. :evil:
