Been for a few dives of late off some of the islands throughout the Dampier Archipelago. Plenty of crays lurking under the plate coral. Trouble is, being that it is illegal to spear them in WA, finding thems one thing, getting them out is another. Currently working on about a p..s poor 1 in 5 catch ratio And pretty scrathed up for my efforts
Ive noticed a few members are pretty keen spearos, any tips or devices to help on the matter, any advice appreciated....

Mate I know a few lads in Gove who use those cheap stringy mop's you can buy from coles, they corner the cray with it and its spines get all tangled up in the mop.. seen them catch plenty this way. Hope this helps,

I use a 1mm wettie and gloves saves the scratches and that dammed fire coral Then it is a matter of patience and timing 2 people also helps 1 goes in the other plays wicket keeper Cheep mesh dive bags can also help tangle in their horns and hey presto its almost in the bag

yeah tried the team effort, not really a pretty sight. took advantage of the rainy weather and knocked up a couple of snares, keen for the water over here to clear up a touch to get out and give em' a whirl, but with "carlos" on his way over might have a bit of a wait yet. Stories of the bloke over in SA will have me lookin' over my shoulder......"TWO" great whites
