Hi all, After being away with work for the last 2 months i decided it was time to take the kids for a fish and get some crabs as i heard they are thick as. Got to Channel island at 0730 and launched the boat no worries and speared off to my favourite spots to drop the pots. Headed to one of the rockbars futher in and anchored up. First baits were smashed by some stonker bream then it went quiet. Went to check the pots after 4 pots it was looking bad with only one crab. The water was very clear and you could see the crabs in the pots. We then go to the next pot and it looked the goods with 3 monster bucks in the pot and 2 more moving in to feed. Pulled that pot and put it back to get his mates and then moved to the next pots. We managed a few more from that pull and headed back to have a fish. Got to another one of the rockbars and put lines out. After about 5 minutes a boat with two lads comes out of one of the creeks and made it quite known that he wasnt happy with us being there (like he owns the sea) but he moved on a bit futher up. Not 5 seconds later my girl hooks up to something big so i take over and fought this fish for about 5 minutes and in the net lands a nice golden trev, I assume this made the others guys angry as they left after that . We got a few parrot fish, moon fish and snapper before moving to check the pots. Ended up with about 25 crabs all up but kept the best 11. Made our way back to the ramp and we could see that it was a busy day with a lot of boats around and as we waited for a boat to be pulled out i was telling my kids about being patient at the ramp and waiting for your turn when two fat old pr..ks cut in in front of us like we were invisible and then had the nerve to laugh about it with there fat wives who were waiting for them. Lucky my kids were there i tell ya as i was going to about to lose it. Anyway spoke to people at the ramp and they didnt seem to do so good. All in all a ripper day!

Sounds like the kids had a fun day, and (for them) hopefully the obnoxious pair in the tinny are barely remembered. That sort of thing really gives me the shytes too. I try am trying to teach the kids (5 & 2) the right way about crossing the road and pedestrians crossings, etc - was at the supermarket two days ago, stop at the pedestrian crossing, look for cars (both ways like Hector the Safety Cat, even though it is theoretically one way) and there is this taxi coming, and coming and about to go through the crossing while I am obviously instructing the boys. I ran up and he stopped halfway through the crossing; was very tempted to kick his door in, but gave him a good gobfull. Had to apologize to my boys (the older one mainly) about daddy's behaviour & language. He was a big fat old bastid too. Might have been one of your old mates!
My 5yo is not that keen on eating crabs, but it's hard not to catch some (even for me), and it doesn't really matter to him if they are undersized and have to go back; it's all good fun!
