yeah well, i'm sure a few have had the same experience.
Went to Melville on the weekend and stayed overnight in Robertson Creek.
Set the pots in a couple of likely looking little feeders, first check after a couple of hours provided nil crabs a good bream, one pot had a little bull shark in it that had drowned, just about had to cut the net appart to get the poor feller out!! oh well, rebaited with some fresh frames and set again .
Had a good night, few ales, bottle of red, quite a good sleep, went to check the pots next morning, first one ripped appart, nothing left inside, damn crocs. Second one the same but had a small cod that had gotten stuck in there.
Third pot, ripped to pieces, bent fame, mesh hanging off everywhere, obviously i was using the right bait for Crocs .
Last one, hopefully a crab!!! Nah you guessed it, squashed, ripped appart, no bait, they liked that one as well obviously.
Oh well, moral of the story, don't leave your pots out overnight there!!!
Hey, we caught some fish, had fun, Crabs were only to be an extra anyway,
Don't think i'll bother next time though, Hah!!

I took the family out to pioneer creek on Sunday to get some crabs, ended up with 6 bucks but had the same problem with crocs. My favourite stretch for crabbing has had a croc on it for months now so have had to try new areas. Seen two crocs swimming in tandem in the middle of the river, never seen it before? Maybe i should start putting my crab bait in the croc traps cause they dont seem to catch em.

Its that time of year that crocs are more active. The rangers have been getting a couple every day out of the harbor. Agent 86- Robinson never seems to crabs very well at this time of year. been at different times and pulled 40 crabs in 10 pots but not this late. For what reason i dont know.

Up until now, apart from West Arm on a calm day, ive never really bothered crabbing Darwin Harbour... But the big boys are THICK out in the harbour at the moment! For me, Shoal Bay has been producing numbers but not quality. SWA has been producing jennies with the odd male slut thrown in for good measure.
Have crabbed the Catalina creeks the last 2 weeks using chook frames and barra heads and they are there! One gutter produced 4 BIG DARK BUCKS from 2 pulls directly across from an anchored yach. Dunno why, but they are there! Stella bucks late in the season! Smack the HBR whilst they are there!
PS. If you are after good bait, go to the butcher up a lil access lane off Pruen Rd in Berrimah. Crab bait, fishing bait and everything else on offer + some quality red meat! Yum fn Yum!

86 maybe just use drop nets as they take up next to no space in the boat and you could dedicate an hour to crabbing so 3 0r 4 pulls in the hour. Croc wont rck them either.
