Went out again today with the pots. No luck on the fishing front other than a rock cod in one of the pots. Had a run-in with one that dropped into the hull. I was very hung over & the crab wasn’t. Got me on the tip of the index finger. A fair bit of ‘yak-eye’ then. All up we got seven of very good size. Cheers

Nice crabs you got there smed, are they full??? Not so good when they latch on . I've had a change of plans, I'm flying to WA for a surf for a few days before I go back to work, I'll give you a buzz when I get back for a fish.

I've put mine in the freezer till the Mrs gets back.Haven't heard from yesterday's decky. I know the Canberra decky had cocoanut crabs from two days ago, though don't know if they'd know if they'd be able to tell whether they're full or not. Sorry for the protracted answer.

Smed, If a muddie locks on, break off a leg and jam the point into the hinge of the claw. He'll let go. Givin him Jacks will only get you a p...ed, p...ed off crab.

Is there anything you don't know Graham?? I was lucky as he dropped the claw while I was flicking (and screaming). In the flicking process the claw dislodged. I've got two rugged cuts that haven't quite met right on the tip of my finger

Got a habit of listenin to advice given, and bein blessed with a retentive memory.. I pass it on when the situation calls. Got two fingers to remind me, old indig mate got the crab to let go while telling/showing how. Amazin what info lurks in an olfart's memory. Bet next time you'll remember it too.

Nomad, you could always use the deckie's leg.
