So yeh anyone got any ideas? Will let you know how things go!

Buff is one of the best places around town. Try leaving pots overnight and you don't need to be in the main river. Also bigger tides are better 2-3 crabs per pot in morning is normal this time of year. If you want to go for a drive try down the road that goes to the old Howard river ramp. Can walk pots through to creek. Look on google smurf.

Hi Bazza94. Ever try catching them by hand line. Down here (Central Coast NSW) pots are illegal. We have a good creek for muddies and I caught 10 1 arvo off a jetty (New Yaers Eve arvo, so I was the toast of the town that night when I turned up at a party that night with them to throw on the barbi). Couple of days later went further upstream (no Jetty), and got 6 from the bank. Big baits, wait till line goes taught or starts to walk, then bring in real slow. When you get them close (2' water) get the net behind them and scoop towards you. If they let go of the bait they generally swim backwards.
