Well what can i say? BUFF IS ABSOLUTELY CRAWLING WITH CRABS! After letting the pots soak over night we went out at about 10ish to pick them up. Was using freshly caught mullet and any other fish we could get in the cast net the previous day for bait and it paid off! From 8 pots we pulled up about 25-30 crabs! Most were undersized so a lot went back but we still ended up with 14 nice size crabs so cant complain

I dont crab from there (the sewerage thing puts me off) but good to hear they are thick in there. Amazing the bait, crabs and barra etc that frequent that creek.

yep, with all the pressure buff sees from the tourists as well, it always crab well, maybe it is the scent that gets them in there......

buff creek has always gone well for me.. but like you said lately its been going off... although i dont leave my pots soaking overnight, but i may have to give that a go now, just hae to find somewhere to hide them

do people eat them from there?
can you get to them by laying pots from shore you reckon?

I have caught crabs up past the rock bar area from the bank. You can actually trek quite far upstream and there is a few places you can hide your pots and usually get a few crabs. Its a fair effort lugging the pots through the mud and mangroves though. I personally don't eat any crabs from there since I was informed about the waste treatment outlet, but I guess it comes down to personal choice whether or not you eat them. I have eaten them before and they didn't seem to affect me.......too much.

I was down there about a month ago and 3 boats got 90 between them all in a couple of hours
